Mayor Steven S. Sherlin was elected to the Athens City Council November 8, 2022 by the citizens of Athens. The City Council unanimously elected Mayor Sherlin to the position of Mayor November 15, 2022 during the Council Meeting. Mayor Sherlin serves on numerous boards and committees in the City and McMinn County. He was born and raised in Athens and is a retired Industrial Professional, former Business Owner, and retired Southern Baptist Pastor.
Steven has been married to Kathy Wilson Sherlin for 49 years this year and they have three adult children, Angie, Andy, and Amy, all married and career professionals. They have five grandchildren, Jacob, Emma, Jonah, Emily, and Everleigh.
