Traffic Control

This page is dedicated to updates and information pertaining to traffic signal intersections within the corporate limits of the City of Athens.

The City currently owns and maintains 34 signalized traffic intersections, as well as the H.A.W.K. (pedestrian crossing) located at Tennessee Wesleyan University's campus and two flashing warning beacons (VEHICLES ENTERING WHEN FLASHING) in the area of heavy industrial activity on State Route 2 (SR 2) north of Ingleside Ave/SR 305.

The City does not own and is not responsible for maintenance of ACS (Athens City Schools) school-zone flashing beacons located at Ingleside Elementary, North City Elementary, Westside Elementary, City Park Elementary, or Athens City Middle School. To report issues concerning ACS school-zone flashing beacons, please contact Athens Utilities Board at (423) 745-4501.

The City does not own and is not responsible for maintenance of MCHS (McMinn County High School) school-zone flashing beacons located on SR 2/Hwy 11 adjacent to the High School. To report issues concerning MCHS school-zone flashing beacons, please contact the McMinn County Board of Education Transportation Supervisor at (423) 745-1612.
